we challenge you!Glentrool campsite, 30-Jan-2006 ![]() Stuart at Newcastleton last year The 7/24 for 2006 will run on the weekend of the 17th-18th June, starting at Glentrool at 11am on Saturday 17th and ending at Glentress at 11am on Sunday 18th. 7/24 is a personal challenge for teams of up to four people to carry a baton through all seven 7stanes centres and over the roads between them, by cycle, in twenty four hours. It is not a race. There is no prize for being first, only a qualifying time; and that qualifying time requires an average speed of only a little over twelve miles per hour. We don't have any sponsors for the event at this moment, so it isn't going to be a very big organised thing; more like an audax. At the start you'll get a baton and a route sheet. You must report in at each control point. You mustn't carry the baton in a motor vehicle. You must not take short cuts. You must reach Glentress by 11am Sunday. At the end there's no prize, just a certificate of your time and you get to take your baton home. As we don't have sponsors the event must cover its costs. I haven't yet determined what the entry fee will be, but essentially it will be enough to pay for the paper work, the batons, the insurance, and some token to say thank you to the control officers. The entry form will be up on this site as soon as I've determined the entry fee; to be kept in touch with developments please subscribe. More PicturesFurther reading: linksEnds. | [NITF] |
