Gareth Montgomery left for Australia on 12th January 2006, to acclimatise, train and prepare, for the Commonwealth Games. Ruth McGavigan, Robert Wardell, Gareth Montgomerie, James Ouchterlony, Duncan Urquhart and Alex Coutts all flew out of Glasgow to join the team at their base in Ballarat.

Gareth, with Duncan Urquhart, Alex Coutts and Robert Wardell will join Evan Oliphant and James McCallum in the 5 day Tour of Wellington in New Zealand on the 25th of January. The MTB squad will remain in New Zealand, competing in National Series events, and the Oceania Championships in Rotorura on the 4th of March. In the Commonwealth Games, Gareth will be participating in two events, the mountain bike race on Thursday 23rd March and the road race on Saturday 25th March.

Sadly for us, but fantastically for Gareth, he has been approached by a new team with a great sponsorship package. The team is Voodoo Bikes, Endura Clothing and Singletrack Magazine. This is a great move for Gareth.

We would like to wish him enormous success, both in The Commonwealth Games and with his new team.
