Raid on DrumlanrigDrumlanrig Castle, Dumfriesshire, Aug 28, 2005 ![]() Bruce at speed I - or, preferably, someone else - will write a fuller article later, but briefly, our riders pulled out another series of spectacular results in the Scottish Cross Country races at Drumlanrig this weekend, despite Gareth being forced to retire with a chest infection. Ryan Fenwick deserves pride of place for coming in 1st in the Under 16 Fun category, against much older and larger opponents (Ross managed 4th in the same event). Sally Warner earned second place in the Juvenile Female class, while Kieth Riddick came 6th and Angus Laurie 7th in the Juvenile Male. Liam Warner was 7th in Youth Male. But for those of us spectating, the most exciting moment came just at the very end of racing, when Bruce McLeary passed a rival in the last 150 metres of the last lap to win an extraordinary sprint for third place. Congratulations to all our riders! More PicturesEnds. | [NITF] |
