Stewartry Wheelers

Stewartry Wheelers is a club for cyclists in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright. We aim to cater for cyclists of all ages and inte rests, organising social rides, time trials and races both on road and off.

The Stewartry is a wonderful area for cycling, with magnificent scenery, quiet roads and several Olympic- quality prepared mountain-bike routes.

    It was on the Duke of Buccleuch's estate that Kirkpatrick Macmillan invented the bicycle. Sadly, the birthplace of the bicycle is empty and rather derelict, but there is a museum at the castle. And the bike tracks were laid out by Rik.
