The riders get ready to depart

The Wheelers set off from Stranraer
In lycra and in fleece.
A dozen gallant cyclists
All heading for Dumfries.

The purpose of the Mission
Was one of great mercy
To raise some more much needed funds
For the Asian Tsunami.

We peddled in and out Glen Luce
With all our main and might
But our tandem blew across the road
Near landing in the.......mud?

Twas Dougie to the rescue
In a Transit van from Jock
We couldn't have done without this man
He really was a Rock.

The Pit Stop at the Warners
Was a warm and friendly do.
Their dedication to the sport
Extending to the loo.

Where quick releasing toilet rolls
Adorned the bathroom wall
And a cycle wheelie mirror
Was much admired by all.

Doug drove us up to Clatteringshaws
Where we resumed the ride
And gave us tips on training
So we could up our stride.

We all got to New Galloway
From whence we headed hame
Our knees a little wobbly
And our legs a little lame.

But still the hardy crew rode on
Though many tired and colder.
Our greatest admiration
To those men both young and older.

The Mission was completed
With many a new personal best
And now those trusty Wheelers
Have all deserved their rest.
