Hardrock Challenge 2009

Hendo's and Polly's race report.

A great weekends' racing at the 'Hardrock'. In the junior event Polly teamed up with runner Emma Livingston and thought it was great fun. She loved the overtakingness of the race. It's great practice for next year's SXC. She wished there was a prize for first female 8 year old team under 4' tall though. She had her first race on a 24" wheeled bike(borrowed from Adam Hughes. Thanks Adam) and thought it was way faster than the 20", and lighter actually. Only another 3 months of exemplary behavior til Xmas Polly.

My attempt at racing was also as the biker in a team with Sandie Donald of Dumfries doing the running. Boy was the trail busy so it was interesting, with some people happy to let riders past and others a bit reluctant to admit that the string of 12 bikers behind them probably did deserve the chance to have a go at racing. But it was a fantastic day and when the trail opened up it was riding really well having been firmed up by the previous mornings' rain. The sun shone and everybody seemed to be having good time.

Roll on next year, oh, and turbotraining and 5 hours of daylight and road rides. Eh?
