SCOTTISH CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIPS

Four members of the Stewartry Wheelers took part in the Scottish Youth Criterium Championships at the weekend. These were held at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.

Morgan McConnell and Jenna Fenwick had to ride round a short circuit for 20 minutes plus 3 laps. Both are new to this type of racing but did very well. Jenna was presented with the silver medal in her category.

Our two older riders Ryan Fenwick and Ross Green took part in the next race which was for 30 minutes plus 5 laps. These boys worked well as a team and their hard work paid off, as they broke away from the pack with two other riders. It was an exciting last lap and it could have been anyone's race. The camera was needed to verify the final result. Ryan took the bronze medal and Ross 4th place. However, both boys who are more at home on a mountain bike, were not too disappointed to be beaten by two more experienced road cyclists.

The highlight of the day for all four riders was meeting Sir Chris Hoy, who was presenting some of the medals.
