Stewartry Wheelers

Aberfoyle

SXC Aberfoyle April 26th 2009

Sunday the 26th April saw the second round of the Scottish cross country series taking place at the Dounans Centre, Aberfoyle. A strong team of 10 Stewartry wheelers braved the adverse weather conditions. Those being youth riders Ryan Fenwick and Ross Green who came in 4th and 5th place respectively. Unfortunately due to a mechanical malfunction, Richard Scales had to pull out early on his second lap.

Next off the start line were our veteran team members Paul Crotty coming in 26th still smiling after 4 laps and Sam Sherwin finishing 29th.

Three minutes later it was the juveniles turn to face the gruelling course that lay ahead of them. In the male section, Morgan McConnell finished 5th and Adam Hughes 8th. In the female juvenile section, our only female racer, Jenna Fenwick, came in a pleasing 4th.

In the open class, Neil McConnell finished 5th to round up the morning races.

Then came the afternoon races with Jason Sinden flying the flag for the wheelers. By this time the course had turned treacherous but this did not stop him as he came 22nd.

So in conclusion, the Stewartry wheelers had a great weekend out with some encouraging results and look forward to making the trip to Laggan on the 17th of May. So hope to see you all there and good luck!
