Ingliston Crit

Richard chasing

As part of my training, I have been encouraged to have a go at a series of crits which are held at Ingliston near Edinburgh.

Ross, Richard, Jenna and me all took part on the one held on 16th April during our Easter Holidays. It was a really cold windy night which made the race really hard going. We raced for 25 minutes plus 5 laps.

We did a warm up with one of the Scottish Cycling coaches and Jenna felt exhausted after that! I don't think she realised what she had let herself in for!

However, we got going and stayed as a bunch for a wee while until Ross and two others had a big break which they did well to keep up for a few laps. The chasing bunch then made up on them. Grant Ferguson then zoomed off in the lead. The chasing bunch never caught him again.

We finished with a sprint to the line. I was 4th Youth finished, Ross was 5th and Richard 6th. I got a 2nd in one of the sprints. Jenna made it to the finish but said 'I am not doing that again!'

Crit racing is very tactical but it is good to try something different.
