TOUR OF BRITAIN 2008Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfriesshire, 15-Sep-2008 Morgan on his way to victory With the Tour of Britain stage ending at Drumlanrig on Saturday, Scottish Cycling along with Riks Bike Shed organised a Dirt Crit race for kids under 16. The races consisted of short laps round a particularly muddy course. Our keen young mountain bikers took full advantage of the local venue. First to race was Adam Hughes in the under 12s race. Adam led from the start and held on to win with another youngster hard on his heels. Next to go was the under 14s race with Morgan McConnell and Jenna Fenwick racing in this. Morgan got off to an excellent start and held a good lead throughout, while Jenna managed 3rd overall and 1st girl. With two team mates away on a school trip it was left to Ryan Fenwick to fly the flag for the Wheelers in the under 16s race, which he did by passing the leader on the last lap to take first place. This was a successful day for our young team with all four winning gold medals in their age groups. They were also lucky to receive generous vouchers from Riks Bike Shed. After the racing and presentations, they were able to enjoy watching the tour arriving at the castle. A special well done to Morgan as this was his first race win! More Pictures
