The club had a team of 11 riders taking part at Round 4 of the SXC Series held at Gleniffer Braes, Paisley on Sunday 22nd June. This race was also the Scottish Championship event for 2008.

We came away with three medals a gold, a silver and a bronze. Not bad for a wee club! The course was very grassy and slippy due to the heavy rain. It was not too technical but the weather made it very hard going.

All our medals came from the Juvenile races. Ryan Fenwick claimed the gold medal and therefore became Juvenile Scottish Champion 2008. Team mate Richard Scales joined him on the podium with a bronze medal. Jenna Fenwick was 3rd in the SXC race, but was 2nd Scottish girl and so took the silver in the Championships.

Other Juvenile riders did well with Ross Green taking 4th place, Morgan McConnell taking 12th and Rory Bruton just behind in 13th place. Murdo Bruton riding in the 2 lap Youths race came home in 9th position. All the above riders were in the Stewartry Wheelers shirt and it was great to see so many of them on the start line!

Keith Riddick was riding in the Junior 4 lap race and finished with no problems in 8th position.

Paul Crotty took part in the Veteran race and finished in 15th position. Jason Sinden was in the Masters race and finished in 25th place. Unfortunately for Ben Smith, he arrived too late and missed registration!

Our primary racers were represented by Adam Hughes who finished in 2nd position and Jenna Fenwick was 1st in her category.

Congratulations to Gareth Montgomerie who was the winner of the Elite race and therefore became Scottish Champion.
