SXC Round 3 FyrishContin, near Inverness, May 26, 2008 ![]() Watch out for the tree Ryan! Our young Wheelers had another successful result from round 3 of the Scottish Cross Country series of mountain bike races. The event was held at Fyrish, which is North of Inverness. Despite the long distance involved we had six young club members taking part. The course was very steep with some testing climbs and the downhill paths were full of heather. Race conditions were very hot and dry. Our Juvenile team did very well with Ryan Fenwick taking gold and team mate Richard Scales joining him on the podium with a bronze. Ross Green was not far behind in 5th position. Jenna Fenwick had an eventful race with her back brake failing half way round. Despite this she kept going and ended the race with a second place on the podium. We had two other club members in action. Keith Riddick finished in 5th position, after a tough 4 lap race in the Junior category. Keith was racing for the Drumlanrig racing team. Our youngest Wheeler Adam Hughes, rode a very strong race to finish first in the primary 6/7 category. Adam was racing in the colours of The Brake Pad cycle shop. All the youngsters did really well and it is good to see that they have built up friendships with other regular riders from other clubs and indeed from all corners of the map! It is good to see the "lion" being a regular visitor to the podium!! More Pictures
