Round 2 of the British National Points Series was held in the grounds of Drumlanrig Castle on Saturday the tenth of May. The young Stewartry Wheelers took advantage of the local venue and fielded a strong juvenile team. The juvenile category covers racers between 12 and 14 years of age.

The course was about 8 kilometres long and was technical and very rooty. Fortunately the weather was dry which made favourable track conditions for the young riders. It was however very hot and sticky which made it even more physically challenging.

Ryan Fenwick provided the crowds with an exciting finish when he entered the final stages on the back wheel of the race leader. They fought for the line with Ryan narrowly missing the gold medal by inches. Ryan was still pleased with the silver medal in such a big event. His team mates were not far behind him with Richard Scales taking nineth position and Ross Green just 1 place behind in tenth. Morgan McConnell was delighted to complete his first juvenile race in sixteenth position. Jenna Fenwick finished fifth in the juvenile female category.

Club member Keith Riddick rode later in the day in a 4 lap junior race and finished in the top 12.

The attached photo shows the juvenile team taking a well deserved rest after their efforts. From left to right Morgan McConnell, Ross Green, Richard Scales, Ryan Fenwick, Jenna Fenwick.
