2007 SXC Series Starts

Round 1 of the SXC 2007 Series was held at Laggan on April 1st 2007. The club had a team of four young riders taking part.

Of Nerves

Andrew came 17th out of 516 finishers in the Fred Whitton Challenge - often described as Britain's toughest one day event - finishing in 6 hours, 29 minutes and 8 seconds, 17 minutes behind the winner. Here's his story

All Quiet on the Eastern Front

If I didn’t have such sore knees I could kick myself for not riding cyclo cross sooner, I was warned it’s addictive and it is...

Brydekirk TLI

Regrets - I've had a few, in fact I've got a lot of regrets, but right now, what I really, really regret is writing that last damm race report about the Castle Douglas TLI.

Scouting for Boys

Today there was supposed to be a club run to scout the Glen Trool to Kirroughtrie section for the 7/24. Well, there was a club run... for one person

Simon's report of the Tsunami Ride

Happiness is a Filthy Bicycle

Ride report of my Mantra's first reasonably long trip through the Galloway hills.

Selkirk Grace

"For a short while I find myself riding along with another rider, he looks at me and asks why I have '4 Dave' written on the side of my helmet, I briefly tell him about the bike's owner and he smiles and gives me a thumbs up." Andrew Crooks rides a Moutain Marathon for his brother.

TLI British Cyclocross Championships

Taking photos from a fast moving bicycle is always a hit and miss affair - but sometimes the results are more interesting than others!

Should I join the circus?

Since joining the club I have inflicted a million digs at Steve Warner regards Mountain bikes. I publicly retract those comments and confirm that Mountain Bikers are from a different plant - last night was the most painful, difficult time I have spent on a bicycle

A Journey to the Birthplace of the Bicycle

The first of May was a busy day for the club. While Gareth and friends were cleaning up at Fort William, Marcus and I set out on the Kirkpatrick Macmillan Audax. It was wet.

A Journey to the Turning of the Year

The idea of cycling from sunrise until sunset is the sort of thing which sounds like a cool idea. It was a cool idea. Indeed, in parts, it was a shockingly cold idea...

Getting Cross at Carstramon

I've got good photos of the Under 16s event. I've got good photos of the Under 12s. I don't have any photos of the adult race. Why not? I was racing.

Pass of the Cattle

Andrew's ride report from the Bealach na Ba cyclosportif

A grand day out. For madmen.

Today saw cyclocross at Heathhall. It wasn't warm!

Romanes Eunt Domus

One thing that is certain is that there are no Romans in the 7stanes crew. Nothing here is straight. Where the Dalbeattie Red Route is flowing and the Kirroughtrie trails are sinuous, the Ae trail is positively calligraphic...

Castle Douglas TLI

Tonight there was a road race round Loch Ken organised by the Dumfries club. Andrew, Kenny and Liam took part; Dougie and I marshalled; and Steve, Lisa and Sally drove a support car. It was a horrid wet night, and I was jolly glad I wasn't racing... Here's Andrew's report

The Ballad of the Tsunami Ride

Terri Coates records her experience of the epic Tsunami ride in verse
